First school lunch for the kids of Herburg Special Needs School 🍽️😊

Since March, the Dutch Flower Foundation has helped to ensure that the children of the Herburg Special Needs School receive a nutritious meal every day. We previously promised to support the construction and furnishing of the school, and in addition, we will provide the financing for lunch for at least the coming year.

The school, founded by Herburg Roses in Ethiopia, offers special education that meets the needs of the children. There are classes for deaf and hard of hearing, blind, and both mentally and physically disabled pupils. The school was made possible in part by income from Fairtrade and a donation from the Foundation.

Currently, 42 children receive lessons five days a week. In May, the nursery will start building the second part of the school, which will ultimately enable 150 children to receive education. On Saturdays, the children’s parents or guardians come along to learn how to better deal with their child’s disability. We wish all the children a tasty meal!
